Sunday Monsoon rains wreak havoc in Karachi, kill seven people
A powerful monsoon system formed in the Arabian Sea caused torrential downpours in various parts of Karachi Sunday evening, but it claimed the lives of seven people.
Abdul Rasheed, SHO of Taimuriya area of Karachi, said that a citizen died due to electrocution in the buffer zone.
He said that the deceased citizen was identified as 50-year-old Akbar Khan, who was electrocuted inside his house in Sector 16. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal proceedings.
SSP Central Maroof Osmani said that there was an accident with a couple riding a motorcycle in Shadman area where a woman and 2-month-old girl drowned in the drain while husband and 1-year-old daughter was rescued.
Police surgeon Dr. Samia Syed said that the body of the woman has been rescued while the search for the girl is going on.
She said that 35-year-old Younis in Liaquatabad and 80-year-old in Orangi Town died due to electrocution.
According to Edhi Foundation, 28-year-old Farhan Khalid died due to electrocution in Orangi 10, Phool wali Street.
Memongoth police said that a citizen named Raju Hashim died as a result of torrential rain while the body has been shifted to the hospital.
Administrator Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab claimed that no rainwater accumulation was reported from any area of the provincial capital.
