Students stage digital protest against PIA for increasing China fare by 1000 percent
As the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has increased the fares for the Pakistani students on flights between Pakistan and China to Rs500000 from Rs50000 one-way, students have staged digital protest against the air communication company on Twitter with trend named #PIALootingPakStudents.
Other airlines have also hiked their airfares that are now ranging from Rs500000 to Rs800000 for a one-way trip, which is not affordable for students.
The hike has reportedly resulted from the coronavirus restrictions that remain in effect in China.
Taking to Twitter, Pakistani students lashed out at Pakistan International Airline (PIA) for unjustified air fares and demanded 50% discount in the fares which will be around Rs250000 which is still unaffordable for students.
A twitter user said that the fares hike is injustice not with only students but with entire international community who is willing to go China to catch their dreams.
Another user raised a question that why PIA is looting students instead of helping them.
Some users urged PML-N-led coalition government to intervene in this matter.
Here are some of the tweets, demanding justice and discount as they wanted to peruse their studies abroad which is becoming unaffordable for them with these unjustified fares.
