Students from grade 9th to 12th in KP to be promoted without exams

PESHAWAR: The Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced to promote students of grade ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth of private and public educational institutions without giving exams.
The National Coordination Committee has approved cancellation of exams from class-9 to class-12 owing to COVID-19 pandemic. The chairmen of educational boards of KP have finalized a draft policy, which has been approved, for promotion of students.
The students will be awarded marks on notional basis. The students of grade 9th and 11th may be promoted to grade 10th and 12th respectively. The students who would be promoted to grade 10th and 12th may not take a composite exam in 2021. Thus, they will not be taking grade 9th and 11th exam but only of grade 10th and 12th. The grade 9th and 11th scores will be calculated based on their grade 10th and 12th performance in 2021. They will also get additional 3 percent marks to their total based on the previous exam.
The remaining students appearing in grade 10th and 12th exams who have failed up to 40 percent of the grade 9th and 11th subjects may be awarded passing marks. However, such students may not be given the benefit of 3 percent additional marks.
A special exam may be held for the people not satisfied with the marks awarded to them for grade 10th/ 12th on the basis of their grade 9th/ 11th result and want to improve by taking exams.
