Strict action to be taken against tanker mafia in Karachi

The Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered police to take strict action against the tanker mafia, running around Karachi’s street.

To solve the water shortage in Baldia Town and surrounding areas, a SHC’s bench ordered the police to regain control of all water pumping stations of the water board.

“No extra money should be taken for giving water to people,” remarked Justice KK Agha

As per reports, the tanker mafia have earning millions of rupees through illegal connections.

The KWSB MD told the court that they have regained control of some pumping stations, adding that they have 155 stations in the city.

The court has ordered SSP of the District West to make sure the implementations of its orders, while all SSPs have been instructed to appear at the next hearing.

A report on illegal connections in the district has been submitted by Malir SSP. He said that there are no water connections in Memon Goth and Gadap.

The court has ordered the police to submit a detailed report on illegal connections and water tankers.

The assistant commission has been directed to conduct a survey.
