Stormy winds in Karachi, 2 killed, several injured

KARACHI: Two people were killed and several others were injured when walls and roofs collapsed due to dust storms in Karachi.
According to details, dust storms started blowing in Karachi. Due to strong winds, two people were killed in the incidents in North Nazimabad and Gulbai.
A wall of a house collapsed in Orangi Town Karachi, injuring a six-year-old child, while part of a building under construction in New Karachi 11-B collapsed.
Similarly, three persons including a woman were injured when the roof of a house collapsed in Baldia Mowach Goth area of Karachi and two persons were injured when the roof of a house collapsed on Sparko Road.
In Gulshan-e-Iqbal, strong winds blew away the roofs of houses while in 13-D the tree was uprooted.
On the other hand, the Meteorological Department has issued a strong wind alert, stating that strong winds from the west are blowing at a speed of 30 nautical miles, reaching up to 35 nautical miles.
The meteorological department said that the strong winds are likely to continue intermittently till late at night. Sardar Sarfraz said that he had been predicting strong winds for three days. The strong winds could cause damage to old trees and weak structures.
