“Stop policing how we express our patriotism”: Sajal Aly responds to Adnan Siddiqui
Sajal Aly has responded to Adnan Siddiqui who called the remix version of the national anthem performed at LSA disrespectful.
Sajal has countered Adnan Siddiqui’s thoughts and wrote on Instagram, “Pakistan’s diversity makes it beautiful. A rendition of the national anthem that is inclusive of historically marginalised groups is far more patriotic than imposing a rigid and unitary idea of how to show love for our country and its people”.
Sajal further added, “as a Pakistani and an artist, I found the diversity of my country reflected in this rendition of the national anthem beautiful. I found it healing”.
Talking about the artists who performed at LSA, Sajal stated, “Shehzad Roy and Wahab Bugti broke no law…Their rendition reflected the values of our constitution and remained true to the original anthem”.
