 Special flood rescue teams posted near River Sutlej

LAHORE: Special flood rescue teams have been posted in adjacent areas of River Sutlej in view of the possible flood situation after India released water towards Pakistan without preschedule.

Rescue 1122 of Punjab said 64 boats and more than 1000 rescuers were busy in flood rescue operation in districts adjacent to Sutlej.

Rescue sources said Rescue teams had been post in Okara, Bahawalnagar, Pakpattan, Vehari, Lodhran and Jalalpur. They said specialized flood rescue posts had been established at 40 possible dilapidated spots.

They said 2,893 people had been shifted to safe places from Kasur, 766 from Okara and 32 from Bahawalnagar.

The rescue department has asked people to dial 1122 helpline in flood emergency situation.
