Smart lockdown imposed ahead of Independence Day in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: A notification has been issued to impose smart lockdown in the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to spread of coronavirus.
According to the details, a notification has been issued to impose smart lockdown in different areas of Peshawar from 9 pm on August 13 till further orders. Meanwhile, entry and exit points of these areas will remain closed during the smart lockdown.
Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Captain (Retd) Khalid Mahmood said that the purpose of imposing smart lockdown was to stem the spread of coronavirus, cases were increasing in those areas, which include Bara Gate area bound by Bara Road and Al-Faisal Street; Charsadda Road area bound by Canal Road, Charsadda Road and Pajjagi Link Road; Mahal Terai area bound by Dalazak Road and Ring Road and Street No1, Daramangi Garden, Warsak Road.
Khalid Mehmood said that shops of only essential items such as food, medicine, general store, oven and emergency service shops would remain open in these areas and only five people would be allowed to offer congregational prayers at mosques there.
He said that instructions had been issued to the area magistrate and police regarding implementation of smart lockdown and legal action will be taken against the violators.
