SUKKUR: Six out of 10 Tableeghi Jamaat members tested positive for coronavirus in Sukkur after their a retest on Sunday evening.
10 leaders of Tableeghi Jamaat, who hailed from Punjab, have had negative test results, according to sources. The Sukkur administration, however, performed a retest upon their arrival and found six out of ten positive cases of coronavirus.
District Health Officer (DHO) Sukkur Dr Shabbir Ahmed said that five positive corona patients belonged to Punjab, while one of them was from the district of Pano Aqil, Sukkur.
DHO Sukkur further said that as many as 401 Tableeghi Jamaat leaders hailed from other parts of the country, including Manshera, Peshawar, Swat, Bajaur and Quetta, who had completed their quarantine time in Yousuf Mosque and tested negative.
They were allowed to go home. In this regard, he said, they had planned transportation and other facilities.
Dr. Shabbir Ahmed said that 63 positive cases of coronavirus were facilitated in the Sukkur quarantine center and declined to comment on the quality of the test kits, as all 10 Tableeghi Jamaat leaders were previously tested negative in Punjab.
Meanwhile, four more Tableeghi Jamaat members have been found positive for coronavirus after their testing in Mehrabpur and the number of positive cases for coronavirus rose to 19 in Naushahro Feroze district.
