Sindh to buy five million CanSino vaccines: Azra Pechohu
KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Health and Population Welfare Dr Azra Fazl Pechohu on Tuesday said that the provincial government would buy five million CanSino vaccines.
Addressing a press briefing in Karachi, Azra Pechohu said CanSino doses would be bought directly from China as the federal government had allowed the provinces to buy vaccines on their own.
Sindh will be given additional 20,000 vaccines on Mar 31, she said adding that the vaccine will be useful when our 70-80 percent population would have been inoculated.
“You may contract covid-19 vaccine even after getting the vaccine, but it will be a mild infection and you will not need to go to hospital, moreover, it will reduce the number of fatalities,” she said.
The minister said the centre would receive one million vaccines in few days and 0.2 million of them would be given to Sindh.
“Those above 55 are vaccinated through registration on 1166, while the aged persons who walk in without registration are also vaccinated and registered on the spot. Those who have received two COVID-19 jabs are given e-certificate,” she said.
To a query, she said the UK strain did not spread in Sindh, as the government had isolated the travelers from Britain.
“People are requested to adopt precautionary measures,” she maintained.
