Sindh private schools to vaccinate students above 15-years
KARACHI: The government of Sindh has directed the private schools to start Covid-19 vaccination for students above 15-years.
Today, the Sindh Education and Literacy Department stated that the students above the age of 15 years will be vaccinated.
However, they will be vaccinated against covid-19 after the initial examination of their medical conditions.
Earlier, the Sindh government has announced a vaccination drive for beggars and places of worship for minorities in Karachi to further facilitate mass immunisation in the metropolis.
The provincial health department released a notification that the worship places of Hindus, Christians, Bahais, Parsis, etc. will be provided Covid vaccination services outside. This decision was made after a discussion with the religious leadership of minorities.
The notification explained that the district health officers (DHOs) will devise a plan to handle the Covid vaccination services outside churches, temples, and community halls.
Moreover, the health department has also decided to vaccinate nearly 70,000 population of beggars in Karachi as according to the date of 2017 census.
“As many as 70,000 beggars come to Karachi from different parts of the country and used to live at spaces under the flyovers and bridges,” the department answered while addressing the DHOs to develop a plan in this respect to vaccinating beggars in their spaces.
The director of health department stated that mobile vaccination units would be used for the plan.
Previously, Sindh province has taken various steps to facilitate the vaccination process in Karachi and other areas due to the high rise in cases at a positive ratio of 25 percent.
Currently, the province has 100 vaccination facilities including drive-through and mobile unit vaccination services that have assisted in increasing the daily vaccination figure in Karachi to reach above 150,000.
A major shift in the increase was noticed after the announcement to block SIMs and ban entry at various places. Measure such as a warning to stop salaries of government employees helped in the regard to control the worsening positive ratio of the infection.
