Sindh police finalize security plan for mourning processions
KARACHI: The Sindh Police have finalized a security plan for the mourning processions to be carried out on 8th, 9th and 10th of Muharram.
More than 71,000 police officials including 150 women officials would be deployed across the province along with another 10,000 rangers personnel.
Around 3,793 police mobile vans would be on patrolling in Karachi. Pakistan Army has also been requested to provide its 52 companies.
At least 1110 out of 14208 majalis have been declared sensitive. While, 502 mourning processions out of 8301 expected in the city have been marked as sensitive. 485 other locations have also been noted as perilous.
93 mobile phone jamming devices would be installed at different locations and the security condition would be monitored through aerial and surveillance camera footage. Containers have already been placed on the routes of the processions, which has aggravated the traffic situation in the country.
