Sindh High Court rejects bail plea of Ali Wazir
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday rejected the bail application of Member of National Assembly from South Waziristan, Ali Wazir.
Ali Wazir’s close friend Mohsin Dawar said that the people of South Waziristan remained unrepresented in the parliament after the decision of the high court. He demanded from the authorities to release Ali Wazir.
The suspect will continue to remain in prison on charges of making incendiary speech. He was arrested in December 2020 under sections 120B, 506 and 505 from Peshawar. The Sindh High Court had reserved judgment on Ali’s bail application in March and has now rejected it.
In December last year, Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) chief Manzoor Pashteen had given a worldwide protest call against arrest of Ali Wazir.
In his response over the arrest, he announced that Pashtoons all over the world will hold protests against Ali Wazir’s arrest. He also demanded from the Sindh government to withdraw the FIR against him.
Wazir was arrested by Peshawar police on request of Sindh police in a case related to hate speech that was filed in Karachi against him, Manzoor Pashteen and Mohsin Dawar. The case was registered against them on Dec 7, a day after they addressed a rally at Sohrab Goth in Karachi.
