Sindh govt sets Rs5 mn bounty for helping in arrest of Maulana Adil’s murderers
KARACHI: The Sindh government has set bounty worth Rs5 million for helping in arrest of the assassinators of Jamia Farooqia’s Maulana Adil Khan.
The Sindh additional chief secretary announced the reward after approval of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
The notification reads that the accused can be reported to any nearby police station and the name of the informant would be kept confidential.
It may be recalled that Maulana Adil, the head of Jamia Farooqia, was shot dead by the two motorcycle riders in Shah Faisal Town area of Karachi on October 10 the following year.
On Oct 13, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh Police had said that foreign-funded elements were involved in murder of Jamia Farooqia’s Maulana Adil Khan.
On Oct 12, Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani had admitted that Maulana Adil Khan was not provided proper security.
However, he had said, the Sindh government was bound by the decision of the Supreme Court to provide security to people only after approval of the threat assessment committee.
