Sindh govt sets 1 lac bounty on identifying culprits putting sacks, stones in gutters

KARACHI: The Sindh government on Tuesday announced a bounty of one lac rupees on identifying the culprits putting sacks filled with sands or stones in manholes or throwing trash on main arteries.

“If you find someone throwing litter on a road, shoot his video and identify him, specially (shoot video) of those putting sacks, pillows or stones in manholes. Send us their videos on Whatsapp numbers 0300-0074296 and 0300-0084296 to help us get them arrested, the Sindh government will give you one lac rupees reward for it,” Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani said while addressing media on the issue of garbage in Karachi.

He requested people to help the provincial government in exposing the people who were enemies of the megalopolis. “The terrorists putting citizens of Karachi in trouble should be held accountable,” he said.

To a query, Saeed Ghani said name of the informers would be kept confidential.

The issues faced by Karachi were deliberately created by some miscreants, he said. He said if the issues of sewerage, water and garbage were resolved from Karachi, politics of “the jugglers” would be ended.

The provincial minister said whoever would help the government identify the culprits by properly recording their video would be given one lac rupees, he repeated.

He alleged that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and those following them were involved in such acts.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sept 22 witnessed a gutter at Malir Halt and another behind Avari Tower in Saddar which were filled with heavy stones to choke them.

Water board, after a hard work, had cleared the gutters of stones and boulders. The chief minister CM had said some people were enemies of Karachi and its people.
