Sindh govt announces public holiday on account of Labour Day

The Sindh government has announced to observe public holiday on Saturday, 1 May on account of Labour Day.

The issued notification reads “the Government of Sindh declares Saturday 1 May 2021, as Public Holiday on the occasion of “Labour Day” throughout the Province of Sindh.”

Labour Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the achievements of workers.

Pakistan’s first labor policy was devised in 1972, in which May 1 was declared an official holiday. This policy also formulated the creation of the Social Security Network, Old Age Benefit Schemes and Workers Welfare Fund.
