KARACHI: On behalf of the provincial government, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani on Monday announced new schedule for schools and colleges amid concerns of coronavirus.
“New educational year for schools in Sindh will begin on June 1. Exams of nine and 10 grades will be held from June 15 to 30. Results of matric exams will be announced on Aug 15,” Saeed Ghani said while addressing the media in Karachi.
He said exams for grades 11 and 12 will begin on July 6 and their results will be announced on Dec 15. Admissions for Grade 11 will begin on July 15, he maintained. He said new educational year of intermediate (11, 12) classes will begin on August 1.
The education minister said examinations and results of Grade 1 to Grade 8 will be held and announced between June 1 and June 15 respectively.

“I would like to thank all religious scholars for abiding by the Sindh government’s instructions of minimizing the organization of big public gatherings,” he said in one of his remarks on this occasion.
Saeed Ghani said parents were not obliged to pay advanced fee for the months of holidays. The school administrations seeking advanced fee would be punished, he added. “Pay your children’s monthly fee according to the court orders,” he urged parents adding that the situation demanded from us to cooperate with the government. He said all the examinations will be held and students were not being promoted without taking exams. “Hopefully, the situation will improve by June,” he added.
He said the Sindh government was aggressively screening people. Once all the people affected of the virus were identified, the number will start coming down, he said.
The education minister relayed that according to the Sindh government more than 900 Pakistanis were in Iran, while according to the Federal Investigation Agency more than 1200 Pakistanis were in Iran.
