Sikhs, Pakistan’s biggest minorities

Sikhs are considered as a minority in Pakistan but their contribution in serving the country is as equal as every other Pakistani.
We mostly see the Sikh community during the month of Ramadan while arranging iftar for the Muslims to spread message of interfaith harmony every year.

Since the Pakistani Constitution stated that Sikhism is a monotheistic religion, the Sikh community has been making every possible effort to progress in different fields of Pakistan.
Here is a list of a few Sikhs who have created history in Pakistan.
Dr. Mimpal Singh
Pakistan’s first Sikh MBBS doctor, Mimpal Singh who has worked as a Consultant Pediatrician & Neonatologist (Child Specialist) and Registrar Pediatrics Medical Ward at Mayo Hospital in Lahore. He also runs his private clinic named “Sardar Ji Child Health Clinic” in Shad Bagh, Lahore.

Manmeet Kaur
A private television channel employed a Sikh woman, Manmeent Kaur as a news reporter for the first time in the history of Pakistan.
In an interview, Kaur highlighted the treatment minorities are given in Pakistan.
“Talented people are always treated with honor whether he or she belongs to any religion caste and creed,” said Manmeent.

Hercharn Singh
Hercharn Singh, the first ever Sikh who has been inducted into the Pakistan Army as a commissioned officer. In 2018, he made his way up to the Major rank and became first Sikh Major of Pakistan’s army.

Pakistan is a country of different religions, cultures and ethnicity. The country treats everyone equally without any discrimination and these people are a living proof!
