‘Significant changes’ in T20 squad likely to be announced today

Today, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will likely make significant changes to the national team for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, source claims.

With the World Cup barely ten days away, the PCB will announce changes to the team that will represent the country in the tournament.

Selectors are considering selecting former captain Shoaib Malik, Haider Ali, Fakhar Zaman and Shahnawaz Dahani, according to media sources.

The players on the squad will enter the biosecure bubble today. They will be quarantined for one day before being tested for Covid-19.

Starting on Sunday, the squad will start training at the National High Performance Center (NHPC).

The team will depart for the competition on October 15.

The current 15-player squad includes five batters (Asif Ali, Babar Azam, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Hafeez and Sohaib Maqsood), two wicketkeeper-batters (Azam Khan and Mohammad Rizwan), four all-rounders (Imad Wasim, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jnr and Shadab Khan) and four fast bowlers (Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Hasnain and Shaheen Shah Afridi).

Fakhar Zaman, Usman Qadir and Shahnawaz Dahani were named as travelling reserves.

People on social media were not pleased with the squad selection and they demanded changes being made in the squad.
