Sheikh Rasheed says 669 out of 733 TLP activists released

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Wednesday said 669 out of 733 Tehreek e Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) activists had been released under MPO.

“210 FIRs including Saad Rzivi’s case will undergo legal procedure,” Sheikh Rasheed said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad.

He said the government had decided to free those who were arrested under MPO and the TLP did not talk about release of anybody.

Talking about the consequences of the protests, he said, “20 vehicles were burnt during the protests and five were returned. 12 hostages were released. For the first time in Pakistan’s history 700 police personnel were injured.”

He said writ of the state was established and the role of social media was critically being analysed.

To a query, Sheikh Rasheed said the TLP was definitely a political party and it could appeal to the Interior Ministry within 30 days to reverse the decision of ban on it.

He also said Prime Minister Imran Khan will himself write letters to the western countries regarding Namoos e Risalat (SAWW).
