ISLAMABAD: Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Shehryar Khan Afridi has inadvertently wasted his vote in the Senate elections for lack of understanding about the procedure.
Shehryar Afridi has requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to allow him to recast his vote as he was unaware of the procedure of casting the vote. He has signed on the ballot paper instead of writing number.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has reportedly expressed anger at the MNA. He said how he could make such a blunder, while everyone was apprised about the voting procedure, Geo News reported.
In a letter to the ECP, Shehryar Khan Afridi said that he had been feeling unwell for the past few days, hence he could not attend the meetings of the party for preparation of the elections.
“When I approached you to cast my vote I asked you and your staff but they failed to guide me. Later, I put my signature on the ballot papers instead of putting numbers. Therefore, I may be allowed to recast my vote,” he wrote.
