The bail plea of PPP chief Khursheed Shah and his son Farukh Ahmed Shah in an assets case was dismissed by a special Sindh High Court Sukkur division bench on Wednesday.
Shah’s two wives and twelve other people were given bail in the properties beyond case means. Abdul Razzaq Barhani, a government contractor arrested on 15 November 2019 in the case, was ordered to pay a Rs2.5 million security bond.
Khursheed Shah’s counsel, Mukesh Kumar, said senior lawyers have contacted Aitzaz Ahsan and Raza Rabbani, and will request bail in the Supreme Court after their advice.
On 18 September 2019, Shah was arrested in Islamabad. A complaint has been lodged against him, his two daughters, two sons and son-in-law Owais Shah for owning Rs240 million more than can be explained by their sources of income.
On 11 January he had applied for bail. Following 12 trials, the court reserved its decision in the case April 14. The case was heard by the judge Amjad Hussain Sahito and the justice Shamsuddin Abbasi.
