Shahzad Akbar forgives Nazeer Chohan after legal battle
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar has pardoned Punjab Assembly member of the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (Jahangir Tareen faction) Nazir Chohan after a legal battle against the latter’s controversial remarks.
Shahzad Akbar also signed a memorandum of understanding on stamp paper.
According to the affidavit, he will have no objection to the post-arrest bail of Nazir Chohan. Nazir Chohan has admitted to his mistake and apologized for the baseless allegations.
It should to be noted that Shahzad Akbar had registered a case against Nazir Chauhan at Lahore’s Race Course Police Station for hate speech upon which he was arrested.
Nazir Chauhan had sought bail from the court but was sent to jail for not submitting the bond.
On July 27, police had arrested the suspect from Race Course area in Lahore. Police had said that he was arrested for interrogation into a case filed by the advisor to prime minister for making a controversial remarks against his beliefs.
