Shahbaz Sharif elected as 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan

After the success of no-confidence motion, Imran Khan ousted from the post of Prime Minister and today National Assembly has elected Shahbaz Sharif as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The National Assembly has convened a session to elect a new Leader of the House. Shahbaz Sharif was the sole candidate after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) boycotted the election of the Prime Minister.

Shahbaz Sharif was the prime ministerial candidate from the United Opposition for the new Leader of the House, while the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had nominated Shah Mehmood Qureshi, but later PTI has announced a boycott of the election of the Prime Minister.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry confirmed that the PTI has announced a boycott of the election process of the Prime Minister and PTI will not participate in the election process of the Leader of the House.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has also decided to resign from the National Assembly and according to sources, PTI chief whip Amir Dogar has signed resignations from all members.

Deputy Speaker announces to send declassified letter to Chief Justice

Presiding over the meeting, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri said that he had decided to reject the no-confidence motion as a patriotic Pakistani and as a protector and speaker of the National Assembly. Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri declared his ruling constitutional and legal while Qasim Suri also waved the alleged threatening letter in the House.

Qasim Suri said that it was decided in the last meeting of the federal cabinet that the letter should be declassified. I am sending this declassified letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan with the approval of federal cabinet.

Showing the letter, he said that the letter clearly and arrogantly threatened Pakistan and said that if the no-confidence motion does not succeed then Pakistan will have to go through serious consequences and if it succeeds then you will be forgiven.

After this Shah Mehmood Qureshi in a long speech announced to boycott the election process of the Prime Minister and to resign from the Assembly.

After Shah Mehmood’s speech, PTI members boycotted the House, after which Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri also apologized for holding the election of the Prime Minister and said that his conscience does not allow him to be a part of this action.

Qasim Suri handed over the Speaker’s chair to Panel of Chair Ayaz Sadiq after which Ayaz Sadiq started the process of electing the Prime Minister.
