ISLAMABAD: The Federal Minister for Education, Shafqat Mehmood felt contented over the decision of Higher Education Commission for allowing the universities to conduct online examination.
Shafqat Mehmood showed happiness through his twitter account on the decision of universities getting permitted to conduct virtual exams.
Previously, the universities were to decide through what means they would conduct examination, whether on-campus or online.
However, considering the issue raised by students the HEC said that, the apprehensions of students were reviewed carefully in consultation with the vice-chancellors of all the provinces and regions, keeping in view the difficulties brought about by the pandemic and opening of universities from February 01, 2021″.
HEC said that it had already allowed universities to use their discretion to conduct exams, either on-campus or online as long as the chosen mode provided a fair assessment of students’ performance.
“Universities should take stock of their ‘exam readiness’ i.e., technological readiness, managerial capacity and the announced policy and choose the best possible mode of assessment,” it maintained.
