BAHAWALPUR: Seven deer died in Bahawalpur reportedly after consuming toxic fodder, whereas 12 others were in critical condition on Saturday.

The actual reason behind the death and injuries was hard to predict yet, however it appeared as if the food that they ate was toxic, said zoo’s administration.

They said that the post-mortem examination was mandatory to figure out what went wrong with them.

However, Pakistan’s record of providing animal care at zoos is poort. A case of a bear, Rano, was recently reported which revealed that it was wedged into a small living space.

One of the most renowned case of animal abuse was of elephant Kavaan. It has been the world’s loneliest elephant. Before shifting it to a sanctuary in Cambodia, The elephant’s treatment became a subject of international condemnation and court cases.
