KARACHI: Former president of Karachi Press Club and senior journalist Saleem Asmi has passed away due to illness.

Confirming the death of Saleem Asmi, the family said that the senior journalist had been ill for several days and his funeral prayers would be announced later.

Saleem Asmi was an editor of Dawn and a former president of the Karachi Press Club.

Former editor Dawn and former president of the Karachi Press Club strongly believed in freedom of expression and believed that societies run freely, not by restrictions.
