Senior ISI officer sues ex-military man Adil Raja for defamation in UK

An Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Punjab head has sued a UK-based YouTuber and retired army officer for defamation and damages at the London High Court for running a defamatory campaign against him on YouTube and Twitter.
The serving chief of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Intelligence Command Punjab, filed a case against UK-based Adil Farooq Raja for allegedly running a defamation campaign on social media platforms.
Military officer has demanded an apology, damages and a retraction of the defamatory statements.
The case, which was filed against Adil Raja in the UK High Court in August 2022, came to light on Tuesday at a time when Adil Raja has leveled allegations against the leading film and TV actresses in Pakistan.
A perusal of court documents reveals that Major (retd) Adil Raja’s campaign against the intelligence chief began on June 14, 2022, when he alleged that the intelligence officer had ‘filed a petition at the Lahore High Court to rig the upcoming elections’.
On 19 June 2022, Raja alleged there was election manipulation and that “allegedly ISI Sector Commander Punjab had several meetings with PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari during his stay at Lahore”.
The ISI officer’s representatives told the UK High Court that: “Mr Raja conducted a determined and prolific social media campaign against the Claimant publishing very many Tweets and videos, many of which are seriously defamatory of the Claimant, and all of which, by reason of their content, tone and frequency, have caused the Claimant serious harm.”
Adil Raja, who arrived in London from Islamabad in April last year after a rift between him and the army, has since alleged several serving army officers of a “regime change” plot.
