Veteran Pakistani actor and producer Ejaz Durrani passed away on Monday (today) in Lahore at the age of 86. According to family sources he had been suffering from a long-time illness.
Durranis’s funeral prayer will be offered during Asr prayers in Lahore’s Garden Town.
Born in 1935, Durrani started his film career in 1956 from his debut film “Hameeda” as a supporting actor.
He gained prominence after performing in Punjabi folklores and epic love stories — “Heer Ranjha” and “Mirza Sahiban“.
However, his first film as a hero was ‘‘Bara Aadmi’’ released in 1957.
After becoming a popular actor he married Noor Jehan but divorced her later. From Noor Jehan he has three daughters: Hina, Shazia and Nazia.
Durrani had another marriage with film actress Firdous which also ended up in divorce.
Apart from his actor career, Durrani produced some successful films like Heer Ranjha (1970), Dosti (1971), Sholay (1984) and Maula Bakhsh (1988).
