Sehat cards to be provided to journalists on priority basis: Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain on Tuesday said Sehat cards will be provided to the journalists on priority basis.
“The government is committed to provide facilities to the journalists,” the information minister said in a meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists in Islamabad.
The information minister said special packages would be introduced in Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme and Kamyab Jawwan Programme for journalists.
On May 7, Federal Information Minister Fawad Hussain Chaudhry had said the federal cabinet had approved ‘Journalists Protection Act’.
“Under this act it will be the responsibility of media organizations to provide safety equipment to the journalists before sending them to the conflict zone,” Fawad Chaudhry had said.
He had said a body will also be formed to address the complaints of the journalists. He had said payments of Rs400 million had been released to the media organizations so that they could timely disburse salaries to the media workers. He had said that a program will be started the following year to support the media.
