BANNU: Security forces and officials of an intelligence agency foiled the bid to plant a bomb at Asfandyar Wali’s meeting place in Bannu.

A raid was carried out on a tip-off. Motorbike riders fled from the scene after opening fire on security forces. They had left behind a motorcycle which had a 5-kg bomb fixed in it. The bomb disposal squad blew the motorcycle with a blast to make the bomb dysfunctional.

A public meeting of the Awami National Party was going to be held in Bannu in which Asfandyar Wali Khan and other provincial and central leaders had to participate, security sources said.
