Scotland’s T20 kit designed by a 12 year old
What did Rebecca Downie do when she was 12? She created a T20 World Cup shirt for an international team. Cricket Scotland has thanked the 12 year old girl for designing such an aesthetically eye-pleasing kit jersey
No, this is not a joke; Scotland’s new event outfit was created by a 12 year old girl, and it is just fantastic.
The team management picked the design from over 200 submissions from students around the country. The jersey’s colours are inspired by Scotland’s national emblem, the thistle.
Before the team departed for Oman, Rebecca gave them the new kit. She and her family were special guests for the match between Scotland and Zimbabwe in Edinburgh, where she also met the players.
Cricket Scotland has thanked Rebecca for her creative submission and acknowledged her effort on social media.
As per the ‘Cricket n More’ website, she said, “I was so excited when I heard I had won the competition, I couldn’t believe it. I was so happy to see the shirt in real life, it looks brilliant! It was amazing to meet the team and watch them play against Zimbabwe. I will be wearing my shirt and cheering them on in every game in the World Cup.”
Gray-Nicolls Head of Sales Luke Gray remarked, “We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Cricket Scotland on the ‘Design Our Shirt’ competition and are delighted to see Rebecca’s design coming to life.”
People on social media are also praising the effort of 12 year old and wish her all the luck in the future too.
