The Saudi-led coalition forces intercepted and destroyed drones launched by Yemen’s Houthis rebels towards civilian targets in Saudi cities of Abha and Khamis Mushait on Friday morning.
The attack comes after Yemen’s warring parties yesterday had welcomed a UN call for an immediate ceasefire to fight the Coronavirus outbreak.
UN receives first positive responses to call for ceasefires
The United Nations says it has received its first positive responses to its call for warring parties around the world to observe a ceasefire to allow for a better response to the coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement, Spokesman of the UN Secretary General Stephane Dujarric said the Secretary General also hopes that this will serve as an example across the world to silence the guns and come together as we face the global threat of COVID-19.
The statement further said that rebels groups in Cameroon and the Philippines have heeded to the appeal.
