Sarfaraz Ahmed oblivious about role of captain under new system

KARACHI: Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed on Friday said he was oblivious about the role of captain in selection of the team under new system.
“It is the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s prerogative to decide whether coaches have to select the team or selectors or if the captain has any role in it,” Sarfaraz Ahmed said while addressing a press conference ahead of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in Karachi. He is captaining Sindh in the tourney.
He expressed hope that the new system will reform the national team. He said new system would reap good results, if given time. We need to give new system a chance, he added.

To a query, the skipper said, the real cricket was Test…and players must have mulled before leaving it.
“Test cricket is not a piece of cake, you have to perform in ground for five consecutive days whether you are a wicket-keeper, bowler or batsman.
“Everybody has to decide about his career according to his bodily needs,” he said.
To another query, Sarfaraz said there was no second opinion that the PCB had toiled in the past 10 years and was giving its best to revive cricket in Pakistan.
Skipper Sarfaraz expressed hope that the Sri Lankan team will make the scheduled visit to Pakistan. He requested the Sri Lankan team to do visit the country without any fear.
“Pakistan has always supported other teams, so the ICC as well as other teams should also support Pakistan in this hour of trial,” he said.
He vowed to second Waqar Younis and Misbah-ul-Haq in their new roles.
