Saqlain Mushtaq warns Misbah of karma for removing Sarfaraz from captaincy
Reacting on former Twenty20 skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed’s removal as captain from the shortest and longest forms of cricket, legendary Pakistani off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq has warned Head Coach and Chief Selector Misbah ul Haq of karma that may follow after this “hasty decision”.
In a vlog, Saqlain, who is regarded for inventing unplayable deliveries including Doosra, said there were people who were commenting now that Sarfaraz should have been sacked as a captain for his poor performance.
“A lot of programmes are being held on media regarding the captaincy controversy these days. Maybe I am wrong, but such programmes could soon be held regarding Misbah as well. As per my observation, people will discuss about Misbah’s role in Pakistan’s performance,” he said.
Former captains Javed Miandad and Moin Khan have also criticized the PCB’s decision about Sarfaraz.
Saqlain said it was Misbah’s first time in this job so he needed to learn how to do things. “I feel in coming 2 to 3 years, exciting programmes regarding him would be held on media and social media.”
“I can only pray for good of the Pakistan Cricket Board and that the roles are performed well by those appointed on different posts,” he said.
The inventor of Doosra said he did not mean from any his statement that there was bad intention in any decision.
In the end, he gave a message of peace, love and brotherhood.
Misbah-ul-Haq on Oct 21 announced national Twenty20 International and Test squads for Australia tour ruling out former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Addressing the press conference, while announcing the squad, Misba-ul-Haq said some extremely odd things were going on in the media about sacking of Sarfaraz Ahmed from T20 and Test as captain. No conspiracy was being hatched against Sarfraz Ahmed, he said.
The former skipper said the tough decision was taken following much deliberation. He also clarified that it was the board chairman’s constitutional right to change a captain.
