Sanjrani to remain Senate chairman, Gilani’s intra-court appeal rejected
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected Yousuf Raza Gilani’s intra-court appeal seeking annulment of Senate election.
A two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court headed by Justice Amir Farooq ruled on the intra-court appeal.
The court in its judgment said that Yousuf Raza Gilani has an alternative forum in Parliament, he can bring a resolution in the House to remove the Chairman Senate.
The court ruled that Sadiq Sanjarani would remain chairman of the Senate.
It is to be noted that in the election of Chairman Senate, the Presiding Officer had rejected 7 votes of Yousuf Raza Gilani on which he had challenged the election of Chairman Senate.
The decision on Gilani’s intra-court appeal was first reserved on December 22, 2021 while the court had fixed the case for re-hearing for further assistance on some aspects and after hearing the case again, reserved judgment on the appeal yesterday.
