 Sana Mir will be receiving Asia Game Changers Award

Sana Mir, former captain of Pakistan’s women cricket team has been selected for the Asian Game Changer Award by the Asia Society.

Asia Society announced its 2019 Asia Game Changers, a group of inspiring women who are making a huge impact on Asia and in the whole world on September 11, 2019.

According to a statement by Asia Society, Mir will receive the award along with five other women who have excelled in their respective fields. The Asia society has chosen Sana for excelling at one of the world’s most popular sports and inspiring millions of girls — on and off the field

“Asia Society is honoring Sana Mir, recognized as one of the world’s greatest cricket players and former captain of Pakistan’s national team, who has championed women’s participation in this male-dominated sport,” the statement from the Asia Society read.

Mir also showed her gratitude through a tweet. She wrote

“Alhamdolillah! Truly humbled and honoured to be receiving this award alongside amazing world leaders. Super proud to represent my country and the sport of country.”

The award ceremony will be held in New York City on October 24, 2019. ​
