Salman Butt receives threats, extortion demand
LAHORE: Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt has claimed that he was being blackmailed online through doctored images.
He said that unknown people were demanding 900 dollars from him and threatening to defame him if he did not transfer the money into their bank accounts.
Salman Butt has informed the Federal Investigation Agency’s Cybercrime Wing regarding the threats. “They are threatening to smear me through morphed pictures,” he said adding that the suspects’ locations appeared to be of Morocco and Philippine.
The FIA has launched an investigation into the case.
This should be noted that the cybercrime wing of FIA is not an efficient organization in resolving complaints, perhaps, because of the large number of complaints being filed everyday with them.
