Salahuddin has severe torture marks on his body: post-mortem report
RAHIM YAR KHAN: The post-mortem report of Salahuddin, the mentally challenged man who went viral after his video of breaking an ATM machine to recover his card went viral on social media, has revealed that he had severe torture marks at eight spots on his body.
Dialogue Pakistan has obtained initial medico-legal formality report of Salahuddin who lost his life while in police custody.
Medical Superintendent Sheikh Zayed Hospital Dr Ghulam Rabbani confirmed that Salahuddin had severe torture marks at eight spots on his body.
Twelve samples from the body of 25-year-old have been sent to Lahore for forensic test.
Hospital sources said Salahuddin had already died when he was brought to the hospital. “Dr Khalil had done ECG of the deceased, but Salahuddin was not alive at that time,” they said.
While, police had said that Salahuddin was pronounced dead in the hospital.
Father of the victim, Muhammad Afzaal had lodged a case against three policemen for killing his “mentally challenged” son.
Station House Officer Mehmoodul Hassan and investigation officers Sub-Inspector Shafaat Ali and Assistant Sub-Inspector Matloob Hussain have been nominated in the FIR for allegedly torturing the victim to death.
Father of the deceased said he had tattooed name and address on his son Salahuddin Ayubi’s arm for his identification, but the police did not contact him until he knew about his death from the media.
Afzaal said his son was intellectually disabled and was not in touch with him for quite a while.
