Sajal Aly signs Jemima’s romcom movie

Pakistani actress Sajal Aly has been cast for an international project of Jemima Goldsmith, former wife of Prime Minister Imran Khan, along with well-known British stars like Emma Thompson, Lily James and Shahzad Latif.
Jemima has signed Shekhar Kapur to direct the movie titled ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’. This would be the Indian cinematographer’s first feature since 2007 Oscar-winning ‘Elizabeth: The Golden Age’. He has directed a range of blockbuster Bollywood movies such as Mr India and The Bandit Queen.
Sajal Aly is these days busy with shooting of the film. Nevertheless, she did not herself make any announcement in this regard. Veteran Indian actress Shabana Azmi has also joined the project.
The news was shared by BBC Asian Network journalist Haroon Rashid in a tweet. First he said that there were reports of Sajal’s working for the film, but he was not sure. Later, he confirmed that she was busy with the project.
Earlier, Haroon tweeted: “It’s rumoured that Sajal Ali is currently in London shooting for Jemima Goldsmith’s production, What’s Love Got To Do With It, directed by Shekhar Kapur. The film also stars Emma Thompson, Lily James and Shazad Latif. Sajal’s rep has been contacted for confirmation. Huge if true!”
Later, he confirmed: “Sajal Ali has joined the cast of What’s Love Got To Do With It, directed by @shekharkapur and produced & written by @Jemima_Khan. The rom-com stars Emma Thompson, Lily James & Shazad Latif and is currently being shot in London. Confirmed by Sajal’s agent Hamid Hussain.”
