KARACHI: Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani on Monday denied the rumours of arrest of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz being spread on social media.
“There is no veracity in reports of arrest of Maryam Nawaz,” he said in a tweet.
He also condemned the manner in which arrest of PML-N leader Capt (retd) Safdar took place, for violating sanctity of Quaid’s Mausoleum.
“What Captain Safdar did at Mazar-e-Quaid was inappropriate but the manner in which Karachi police made the arrest is reprehensible. Captain Safdar was not arrested on the instructions of the Sindh government. This move by the police is part of a conspiracy to create a rift between the PDM parties which we will thwart,” the minister tweeted.
On the other hand, veteran journalist Hamir Mir has claimed that the Sindh government has relayed Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader and former Sindh governor Muhammad Zubair that Rangers abducted the Inspector General of Sindh Police to force him to arrest captain (retd) Safdar.
“Unfortunate incident, Sindh government informed PML-N leader Muhammad Zubair that IG Sindh was kidnapped by Rangers at 4 in the morning he was brought in sector commander’s office where additional IG was already present and were forced to issue the orders for the arrest of Captain Retd Safdar,” Hamid Mir tweeted.
