Roshan Digital Account hits highest-single day deposits of $57m
Deposit inflows in Roshan Digital Account (RDA) recorded highest ever daily figure on Tuesday as $57 million were deposited in a single day, according to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
“After the significant increase, the total amount in RDA has reached $4.5 billion. We are grateful for the trust and commitment of Pakistanis abroad,” SBP said.
Expressing gratitude for the record remittances, the Prime Minister said that he thanked the Pakistanis abroad for trusting the motherland.
PM said, “Our government stands firmly behind the Roshan Digital Accounts Scheme.”
“Happy that yesterday State Bank received $57 million the largest inflow in a day ever,” he added.
It may be recalled that RDA was inaugurated in September 2020 with the objective of attracting foreign exchange through Pakistanis abroad and providing them with higher returns as opposed to global markets.
It is believed that Pakistanis living abroad are contributing more to the development of the country’s economy than exports, while through remittances of Rs30 billion, they have also saved the country from bankruptcy.
