Rocket attacks in Baghdad target American diplomatic and military installations

BAGHDAD: On Sunday, two rockets attacked American diplomatic and military installations overnight, said Iraqi security forces. A similar attack was made abortive just a week ago because of the timely arrests.
Washington D.C has blamed pro-Iranian armed forces for these attacks on US diplomats and troops. Almost three dozen similar attacks have been carried out since October..
More than a dozen Tehran backed fighters who allegedly planned an attack on Baghdad’s Green Zone home to the US and other foreign embassies, were arrested later in June by the elite Iraqi troops in first of its kind encounter. A child was wounded after a rocket fired at the green zone landed near a home.
“The raid will serve as a “message” to deter future attacks, but early on Sunday, militants made another attempt.” Said Iraqi government officials.
“At the same time, our forces were able to thwart another attack and seize a Katyusha rocket and launcher that were targeting the Taji base north of Baghdad,” where US-led coalition troops are based, He added.
According to a senior Iraqi security source it was just after the US embassy tested a new rocket defense system C-RAM that these attacks were attempted.
