GILGIT: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed the fear that rigging could take place in Gilgit-Baltistan election on Nov 15.
“We still have time that we don’t make this election controversial. We will not let anyone steal this election,” Bilawal Zardari said while addressing a press conference in Gilgit.
He said the state institutions should do their jobs and leave politics up to politicians. The PPP’s demand had always been that transparent elections should be held, he maintained.
“The PPP will create such opportunities in GB that its jobless youth who are holding higher degrees can get employment,” he said.
The PPP chairman said that an attempt was made to expel his party from the region during GB election campaign.
“We respect the constitution and judiciary. The PPP gave the country a concerted constitution,” he said. He also criticized the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government ministers and representatives’ holding rallies in Gilgit and Baltistan by using the state machinery.
Bilawal said the PPP would win GB election with wide margin on Nov 15. It was imperative that GB election was held fair and transparent. If the PPP won election with wide margin, then it would make legislation, he said.
