Rice production tripled in southern Sindh

The hybrid variety of paddy developed in collaboration with China has tripled rice production in southern Sindh.
Farmers say that with the introduction of a new variety of rice in Pakistan, their production has increased from 30 manats to 120 manats.
Farmers say that “Our homes are prosperous now because of the new variety of rice, the water in our canals comes only 6 months in a year but that much water is enough for this rice crop.”
On the other hand, seed companies say that if the government creates a conducive environment for agricultural research, scientists can develop better varieties of crops other than paddy.
Hybrid rice has been cultivated on 1.7 million acres in Sindh and South Punjab.
Experts say that after the success of a hybrid variety of rice in Sindh, it can be further improved and introduced in other parts of the country.
