Restrictions placed on wedding ceremonies viewing rising coronavirus cases in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has placed some restrictions on wedding ceremonies viewing the rising number of coronavirus cases across Pakistan.
The NCOC said that marriage lawns were the high risk sector for spread of coronavirus.
“Only 300 guests could attend wedding at halls and the wedding lawn management would be responsible for ensuring implementation of the standard operating procedures of COVID-19. While, 500 guests could attend the event, if it is held outdoor,” said the NCOC while issuing guidelines for wedding ceremonies.

It said duration for the wedding event will be two hours and all marriage centers should be closed by 10:00 pm.
On violation of the NCOC guidelines, the wedding lawns would be sealed and their management would be fined.
“Public gatherings become source of spread of the disease and such gatherings are banned all over the world,” it said hinting at banning public gatherings of political parties as well.
The government had allowed to open marriage halls from Sept 15 after the Covid cases had mitigated in the country.
