Residents of Korangi cantonment area demand removal of rain, sewage water

KARACHI: Residents of Bhittai Colony Korangi Crossing have demanded from the Cantonment Board Korangi Creek to remove water accumulated around mosques, schools and playgrounds in the area.

Pictures received by Dialogue Pakistan on Wednesday show stagnated water around a mosque and inside a playground even after two weeks of last spell of monsoon rains in Karachi.

The residents of the area fear that the stagnated water would spread diseases like chikungunya and dengue virus.

A resident said he had contacted the cantonment board responsible for civic works in the area to remove the water around the mosque through suction pumps so that worshippers could easily reach the Abu Bakar Mosque located at Sector B for praying.
