 Remembering Zaheen Tahira on her 2nd death anniversary

Today is the second death anniversary of veteran Pakistani Television actress Zaheen Tahira.

Considered as one of the most senior actress in Pakistan, Zaheen Tahira was born in 1939 in Lucknow. She started her acting career in the late 1960s. Despite appearing on TV, she also worked for Radio Pakistan and stage shows.

She appeared in over 700 drama serials in lead and supporting roles. She also produced and directed a few television series. She appears in plays mostly on private channels. She played the lead role in Pakistan’s record breaking serial Khuda Ki Basti by Shaukat Siddiqui.

She contributed her 50 years of life in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. Her famous plays include Amawas, She Jee, Chaandni Raatain, Dil Diya Dehleez, Tair-e-Lahooti, Masi Aur Malka, Meray Qatil Meray Dildar, Umm-i-Kulsoom. Babban Khala Ki Betiyan was her last drama serial in which she played the role of the mother of six daughters.

In 2013, Zaheen received the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan in recognition of her work for the Pakistani entertainment industry.

Zaheen Tahira died in Karachi on July 9, 2019 after suffering a major cardiac arrest.
