The 152nd death anniversary of classical Urdu poet Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib is being observed on Monday, (today).
Mirza Ghalib was born on December 27, 1797 in Agra, India. His family belonged to Aibak Turks, who later moved to Samarkand.
Ghalib is still known as one of the most famous and influential poets of Urdu and Persian languages.
His honorific was ‘Dabir-ul-Mulk‘ and ‘Najm-ud-Daula‘. He adopted Ghalib and Asad as his pennames.
He died on this day (February 15) at the age of 71 in New Delhi in 1869.
