Relief, rescue efforts continue to help flood victims in Karachi
KARACHI: Relief and rescue efforts continue to help flood victims in various parts of Karachi on Wednesday.
According to the spokesperson of the armed forces, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Engineers boats are employed in various areas to shift the stranded people to safer places. Cooked meal is being provided to affected population struck due to heavy rains.
More than two hundred families are marooned on rooftops due to heavy flooding in Malir Nadi, Kohi Goth and Dur Muhammad Goth. Army helicopters will be flown to rescue these families after weather clearance.
Machinery is being used to stop water flow from Malir Nadi by refilling the breached area. Water in Malir Nadi has reduced and backflow from Quaidabad to Malir Nadi has started.
Army, Rangers and Pak Navy along with civil administration rescue teams are busy in evacuating people to safer places. Pak Navy teams rescued people stranded in rain water in Dadabhai Colony, Madina Town, Yar Mohammad Goth and other parts of the city.
